Before St Paul became a statue in front of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, he had to battle the same kind of challenges other followers of Jesus faced. They were persecuted for believing in the name of Jesus. Here Paul reminds us of the outcome of his personal struggle that is recorded in 2 Corinthians 12 where he is seeking some clarity from our Lord on the hardships he was going through as a follower. You wont get a statue in Rome for exulting in the name of Jesus, but you will get the joy and peace that comes when you proclaim the good news of being saved by grace through your Lord Jesus Christ. So what’s holding you back? Just do it! You may find a few statues around you will start melting when you speak.
Those who love your name may exult in you.
Psalm 5:11
As the apostles left the council, they rejoiced that they were considered worthy to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name. And every day in the temple and at home they did not cease to teach and proclaim Jesus as the Messiah.
Acts 5:41-42
Jesus, thank you for the honor of knowing you as Messiah. Help me to introduce you to others as I would a best friend; with joy and not judgment. Sadly, the world hears accusation rather than proclamation when it comes to your name. Help me to resound it with love. Amen.
