(Sundaycast) Proclaim God’s Promise Into Others (Isaiah 51:7; 2 Timothy 1:7) (Hope)

Paul knew that his missionary partner, Timothy, needed to be encouraged to trust God’s power in him and not the powerful words of people around him. This letter is part of the plan for helping Timothy realize that trouble follows those who follow Jesus. An English Bishop once said, “wherever I go, I get hot tea. Wherever Paul went he got into hot water!” We are not called to be lukewarm in our faith in Jesus but burning with the fire that Jesus creates in us. One step each of us can take today is to ask our Lord to lead us to someone who needs to hear this promise proclaimed over them. So pray now. And see who it is that Jesus will bring to mind or into your day so you can declare to them, “Be of good cheer. You did not receive a spirit of fear. God has given you a Spirit of power, a Spirit of love, and a Spirit of self-control.”

Prayer

Lord Jesus, you love to tell of the Father's love. You were never ashamed of your Father, nor were you distressed when people criticized or insulted you. I confess that sometimes I am afraid to speak up and tell others about your love and grace. Forgive me. Grant me courage to love even when rebuked by others. Amen.
