This piece of art created by Gretchen Quie in 1999 is entitled, “Glory to you O God, unto the ages.” It is created with acrylic and imitation gold leaf on paper. In the podcast today, Sonja will make some connections between this artwork and the verse from Romans 1 in today’s texts. Artists help us see what is hidden from our eyes as they create an image which opens us up to something new. God has called each of us to be a creative artist with the world God has given us to help people see the invisible God behind what is visible. You are called to use your words, your stories, your simple artistic expressions, anything for the glory of God to shine through you. Look today for your opportunity to be God’s artist in the world around you.
So be careful, lest you forget the covenant that the Lord your God made with you and make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything that the Lord your God has forbidden you.
Deuteronomy 4:23
Ever since God created the world, his invisible qualities, both his eternal power and his divine nature, have been clearly seen; they are perceived in the things that God has made.
Romans 1:20 GNT
Heavenly Creator, I am grateful and awed to be part of your earthly and eternal creation. I am sorry when the idols of this world distract me. Help me to rest in your purpose. As I worship you today, may my words of praise and prayer be part of my ongoing celebration of you and of your covenant. Amen.
