What gives you assurance of God’s presence? A beautiful array of the northern lights which many saw last night in the St. Croix River Valley? (Photo was taken by our granddaughter, Svea, just north of Hudson, WI). Or the voice of your Good Shepherd which comes to you from the words of the Bible? You can see both possibilities in the photo on today’s image. There is nothing wrong with loving the northern lights but they show up very rarely and only at night. And what do they tell you about God’s commitment to you? Whereas God’s word will show up day and night. God’s word will reach you anytime even if you are locked inside somewhere or wandering in the woods. God’s word will comfort and console you. So today, take a lesson from Isaiah and Nathan, who wrote out their shepherd’s voice using the “Daily Texts” for today, and write out a shepherd’s voice message for yourself. Your Good Shepherd wants to light up your world.
Lord, I rejoice in your victory.
1 Samuel 2:1
Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57
I celebrate being a created, beloved member of Team Jesus, and am thankful I don't need a winning record to experience ultimate victory over death. It was finished on the cross. I regret my hesitation and selfishness for not sharing the gospel freely with my teammates. Put me in, Coach, and embolden me to share your good news. Amen.
