(Discipleship) Jesus Followers Serve Out Of Powerlessness (Micah 2:1; Matthew 20:25 26) (Service)

The Discipleship House, serving out of the World Mission Prayer League center in Minneapolis, brings us the podcast again today helping us to understand how serving others grows out of powerlessness. Just like the story of the Good Samaritan, we give when we are free from ourselves. When we no longer carry a need to control the outcome, we are free to take the first step of loving others. This is Jesus. Jesus loves us. Because Jesus loves us we can love others in the same way that we experience His love. How did Mary the mother of Jesus experience this reality in her life? It was in her powerlessness that she became free to let God be God. The four Discipleship House members sing Mary’s song at the end of the podcast. It is “Magnificat”…I mean magnificent. It’s both!

Old Testament Verse

Woe to those who devise wickedness because it is in their power.
Micah 2:1

New Testament Verse

Jesus called the disciples to him and said, "You know that the rulers of the gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. It will not be so among you."
Matthew 20:25-26

Prayer

God of kindness, help me to walk humbly with you on your paths that the world does not value. When I feel intimidated or bullied, remind me that I am your child and aligned with your kingdom. Thank you for protecting me from the power of those who try to pull me away from you. Amen.
