Our hymn for today is “Beautiful Savior.” Our Heavenly Father wants the world that is covered in darkness shaped by the power of death to know that there is a Savior who is beautiful. Our God has given us this calling to be the light in the darkness to help people see the beauty of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the 1700s refugees who came to live in the village called Herrnhut realized that this was their calling to go into the world and unto the ends of the Earth to share the beauty of their Savior. The Moravian star that you see in the picture for today is a symbol of the willingness of these people to go wherever our Lord called them to be the light of the gospel. How about you? Where is our Lord calling you to be His light to bring salvation to the ends of your neighborhood? Just start with this prayer, “Here I am Lord, send me.”
The Lord said, "I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth."
Isaiah 49:6
During the night Paul had a vision: there stood a man of Macedonia pleading with him and saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." When he had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them.
Acts 16:9-10
God, you are beyond our boundaries. Sometimes I forget that you shine farther than I can see. Thank you for reminding me that you care for all your children around the world, including me. Keep me open to serving you in ways that I have not planned. Show me where to shine your light today. Amen.
