A stinking shepherd Yes I am (1 Kings 8:66; Luke 2:16-17)
They went to their tents, joyful and in good spirits because of all the goodness that the Lord had shown to his servant David and to his people Israel.

The shepherds went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known what had been told them about this child.

Incarnate God, I want to keep faith with your goodness in Christmas. Like the shepherds I can feel low and despised, but you have made my low estate your birthplace. Help me announce the good news of your birth in me, which unites me with you forever. Open my lips to declare your goodness, my gracious God and Savior. Amen.
