I Am A Follower Of Jesus (Isaiah 52:12; Mark 2:14)
The artist Caravaggio painted “The Call of Matthew” in Rome during the years that he lived there from 1592 to 1610 when he died at the age of 36. One of the great things about this painting is that it is in a church in Rome, San Luigi dei Francesi Church, which includes two other works by Caravaggio. His calling is from today’s reading in Mark. But the other two that reflect his inspiration and his martyrdom reveal that following our Lord always begins with leaving behind what you think gives you life because TRUE LIFE has been given to you in the person of Jesus. Then nothing else matters. Share how you were called to follow Jesus with someone today. Share how you experience life in His name every day. Share how your life in your church surrounds you with hope as these three paintings reveal for Matthew (Levi).
