Our purpose is to help you hear the grace of Jesus in these verses so that your life may find its grounding in Christ alone. 00(Irishcast) Do Not Fear For I Am With You (Isa 41v10 Acts 4v29) (Trust)
How do you hear God’s voice? Command…Promise! DO NOT FEAR is the command. FOR I AM WITH YOU is the promise. The promise is what assures us of God’s presence and power. All humans need to know the promise of Emanuel, “God with us.” But when the promise is combined with the command it bolsters our confidence. We know that God is commanding us to let go of our fears, but the reason we can do this is because God promises to be with us. In the language of theology, we call this law and gospel. The law commands us to do or be something. We know we cannot do what the law demands. But the gospel gives us the power to fulfill it. You can trust God when you hear a command that seems overwhelming to know that the promise of God being with you is close behind. Remember those times in your life when you knew you could not do what God commanded and then the power came from God being with you to help you through. A friend of mine used to help people understand this relationship of law and gospel by saying. YOU MUST…I CAN’T…YOU CAN…PLEASE DO…THANK YOU.

“Didn’t you know that God’s middle name is surprise?” My mother once told this to my friend Tom who is a pastor and a missionary and a regular partner in our Forgivin’ Livin’ podcasts and “Daily Texts” ministry. Today’s texts reveal this surprising encounter with God for Abraham and for Zacchaeus. The disciples knew this from the first day they were called by Jesus until the day they were called home…and that’s when their surprises were out of this world. Jeff and Mim welcome you to their discussion of the mystery of our life hidden in Christ (Colossians 3:3), but made manifest in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 2:20). We are Christ’s body (the Church), designed to be the presence of God in the this world. Just as Jesus came to reveal the Father, so we are to reveal our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the world through our love for God and our neighbors. We are the aroma of Christ (2 Corinthians 2:15) and the Living Letter from Christ (2 Corinthians 3:3) to be read by others. We pray that God will raise us an army of ELDERS, people in their 70’s plus, who know how to pastor and to bless communities through the faithful witness of their lives in Christ so that a new army of young people will be raised up to be the future pastors, teachers, and missionaries and faithful disciples that the world needs.

"Jesu, Jesu, Fill Us with Your Love" is a hymn written by Tom Colvin in 1963, inspired by a Ghanaian folk song. It shows us what it means to follow Jesus. In it we ask Him to help us to serve others with His love. Today we are asking Jesus to help us as we pray for Iran and for the Christians who are following Jesus there in their ministry to the poor especially women who are suffering.

Prayer is one of the most creative gifts God has given to us. God uses our prayers to reign with Him on earth (Rev 5:10; Romans 5:17). We heard testimonies yesterday on the importance of prayer. 00(Discipleship) Praying From Our Hearts (Psalm 37:4; Matt 7:11) (Trust)
The Discipleship house introduces us to the reality that we have a heavenly Father who wants to meet our needs far more than anyone else on earth could ever imagine. As you consider what it means for you to ask your Heavenly Father to meet your heart’s desires, they threw in an interesting answer to prayer from a man named John Carlsen who was a missionary with the World Mission Prayer League. https://wmpl.org/. This story touched my heart because when my parents were trying to teach us children about praying to our Heavenly Father, they included the names of several missionaries. One of these was John Carlsen. Every night as a child, we would be praying for John and his mission outreach. Today as our Discipleship friends teach us about praying to our Father in Heaven, I remember how my father and my mother on earth taught me to pray for this beloved man, John.

All of us are unwilling to be honest when it means admitting we are wrong about something. This habit of self-deception leads people into addictive habits. Only rigorous honesty will help you change. But can you be honest when you have spent most of your life running away from the hurts you have experienced? The Alcoholics Anonymous 12 Step program can help all of us become more honest. Knowing who you are and understanding the value of being honest about your actions is what all of us need. In turn, you can work toward becoming the kind of person you want to be in the future. This is why Jesus said, “ the truth will set you free.” Jesus wants us to practice rigorous honesty. The Holy Spirit works in us with the word of God to help us get free from recovery from any addiction. Today, ask the Spirit to help you find the resources you need so that rigorous honesty can be a normal part of your life with God .

00(Ski Cast) Remember Repent Eat (Ps 22:27; Matt 8:11) (Repentance)
A banquet with rich food is the image that we find in various places in the Bible, reflecting the heavenly community gathered in the new heavens and the new Earth. Jesus makes this promise in today’s reading. Who would want to miss out on such an incredible experience of feasting with people from all over creation. We all recognize how divided and separated we are at this time in our history. But the day will come when repentance will cover everyone of us, and we will turn from our evil ways and seek the one who is life, Jesus our Lord. And in His presence, there will be a banquet. Because God will swallow up death on that day.

11(Sunday Cast) Loving Freely As We Are Freely Loved (Joshua 23:11; 1 John 5:3) (Love)
Today’s verse reminds us that when the Son of God was killed on the cross it came as no surprise to His Father. And Jesus’ death connects directly to the gospel, because the same authority that governs world leaders also governed the cross of Christ. Jesus was not a victim of Roman politics. He was not caught off guard by Pilate’s decision or the Sanhedrin’s betrayal. It was God’s will to hand Jesus over to the political power of His day. It states this in Acts 2:23: “according to God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge.” The death that looked like the world’s greatest injustice was by contrast the world’s greatest act of God’s will. God planned the world’s redemption through the execution of His own Son. So is God surprised when a world leader dies? No. We trust in God who is able to bring His purposes out of any circumstance like the death of a leader that seems out of control. We cannot see how but we can trust the One who “is able to accomplish far more than anything we can think of or imagine.”.(Eph 3:20) He has done this before. He will continue to act because He loves this world. He died for it.
