Our podcasts are 5-8 minutes in length. We create these messages using one or two brief verses from the Bible that come from a devotional book. Our purpose is to help you hear the grace of Jesus in these verses so that your life may find its grounding in Christ alone. It is this grounding in grace that makes forgivin’ livin’ your way of freedom.

00(Awaken) How Great Is A Our God (2 Samuel 7:22; Revelation 22:13) (Sovereignty)
Awaken is on the road this week. They are being trained in outreach ministry for our Lord. They are in Appleton, WI. To be part of Awaken is an experience of letting their mind, body and soul be in service to Jesus. When we were with them at Mount Carmel this fall, it was their mind and their soul we observed being trained under Paul Cross. They will be back at Mount Carmel for more of this kind of education. But this week they are learning things about how their bodies can be used for the Kingdom of God. As we follow them this year on their ministry at Mount Carmel and across the country, we will learn more about how they are partners with Jesus, body, mind and soul.

How long will Jesus need to carry you? Ever since you were a little lamb you have been carried. Now that we are are old and grey, Jesus is still carrying us. And if He is carrying us He is carrying someone else just like us, maybe worse, maybe better, but Jesus didn’t ask us what we thought. He chooses us. He carries us. So guess what we get to do? Invite more people onto His back. He’s big enough for all. Enjoy letting people in on the best ride of all. Jesus.

How do you experience friendship with Jesus? How is this friendship different than earthly friendships? How has your understanding of Jesus as a friend shaped how you view forgiveness and grace in your life? How does knowing Jesus intercedes for you and prepares a place for you affect your daily trust and hope?

00(Sundaycast) Advent 2 Jesus Loves To Work Through Our Pain (Ps 146:8; John 16:20) (Humility)
The second Sunday in Advent has the candle for peace. How can you know peace today as you consider what these verses are saying to you? Jesus tells his followers that they will experience pain. Most of the time we think of pain as something we deserve since that is how people around us make us feel. And the devil also uses your painful experience as a way of reminding you that you did something bad to deserve this pain as punishment. The word “Satan” means “accuser.” The devil accuses you of being guilty for the bad things that are happening to you. But what does Jesus say? “Welcome pain! Glad to see you afflicting my brother or sister. You know what I am going to do, I am going to use your pain to help my beloved one reveal my resurrection power to the people around him or her.” So no matter how badly you may feel right now, the Risen Jesus is working behind the scenes to make good of your pain. Trust Him. Sing this verse from “Joy to the world” and know that Jesus’ joy is on the way!

Jeff and Mim welcome Cheung Wing “Hosanna” to the mission cast as they discuss Psalm 118:25 and Acts 13:2-3. Much of the mission cast features her story as a child on the mission field in Germany, United States, Hong Kong, China and now the United Kingdom. We discuss how one is called and sent. Would you be willing to be “set apart and sent” like Barnabas and Paul? Just imagine at the next worship service you attend, if the Holy Spirit spoke to all the people that you were supposed to go as Christ’s ambassador to the world? Or, if the Lord spoke to you about someone to set apart and send. Would you go? Would you send and support? The world lives under the heavy veil of sin and needs Christ’s gospel to rescue us from darkness and place us into this glorious kingdom of light. The world cries out. God is listening. You are his answer.

Our Heavenly Father is committed to bringing us up in the discipline and instruction that God knows we need. How does God use our circumstances and the people around us to accomplish this? As you walk through each day, consider the many ways that your God is leading you and guiding you. Also how correction happens for you. For we know from John 15:1-7, that the Trinity is intimately involved in all our growing under grace. And these discoveries do not come with a warning, as my mom used to say, “God’s middle name is surprise!”

The Discipleship House offers us a recipe for pecan bars which is included in the prayer journal notes for today. But more than that these students give us God’s recipe for living under the power of the Holy Spirit. As you listen today, may your body, spirit and soul be stimulated to devour God’s word so that you may be filled with the fullness of God in all you do. And they try making the pecan bars so you have one more thing to share with someone you meet today.

How do you hear the message of God’s good news “for you?” We may think a loudspeaker from heaven would work. But God knows that for you and for me to hear the message of the good news, we need voices near us can trust. Today we get to hear the message “for you” from Ireland. On Wednesday it will be the Discipleship youth serving at the prayer league house who will bring the good news “for you.” You know who it is that speaks the word of life “for you.” Remember someone near you today needs to hear the news that “Jesus died for you.”
